Dan started his career in security in 1974, he was hired by IBM and was in the physical security division, and rose through the ranks from uniformed security officer, and corporate security, to Security Specialist. Retiring in Jan 1996. While working for IBM, Dan attended the Austin Police Academy and served as a police officer in Rollingwood PD and Westlake PD obtaining the rank of Sergeant. Resigning in 1984
In 1996 Dan started Emerald Security and Investigations Inc, and later changed the company name to Emerald Pi. Inc, until stepping down in 2018.

In all, Dan has held a license through Texas DPS as a Non-Security officer, Commissioned officer, Personal Protection officer, and Corporate Officer/ Shareholder/Owner and Private Investigator.
